The school

A committed school

We are a family school with strong roots in the Poble-sec neighbourhood and connected to a world in constant evolution. Our response: we focus on students and their families. We place students at the centre of the school's educational activities. We respond to the educational needs and personal interests to support children in the development of their abilities, in all areas.

We prioritize the ongoing training of the entire educational team in the different learning scenarios of our centre. We are a close and welcoming community that learns and reflects as a team. That is why the involvement of families is essential to implementing our innovative educational project, and we engage them in the whole learning process.

A journey through the history of our centre

A school with history

We go back to 1948, when the bishop of Barcelona awarded the parish of Sant Pere Claver to the Jesuits. In 1950, Father Lluís Artigues was appointed rector and built a chapel, a dispensary and our school. It was established as a unique educational centre for boys. Five years later, education for girls was introduced, and in 1970, mixed education was adopted. In 1960, Colegio San Pedro Claver pioneered the teaching of the baccalaureate throughout Spain of the Institut de Batxillerat Ausiàs March.

On 28 November 1988, the Jesuits created the Fundació Cultural i d’Ensenyança Sant Pere Claver, which took over ownership of the centre. In 2010, the dissolution process began to become part of Fundació Jesuïtes d’Educació. A key moment that gave our centre its name: Jesuïtes Poble-sec - Col·legi Sant Pere Claver.
