On Friday 13 June, families and the faculty of educators accompanied the 325 new graduates of the class of 2025 who completed their Vocational Education and Training at Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi.
The students of the various VET programmes (Hospitality and Catering; Kitchen management; Tourist accommodation management; Dietetics; Outdoor and recreation guide; Socio-sports teaching and coaching; Care for people in a situation of dependency; Social integration; Administrative management; Marketing and advertising; 3D animations, games and interactive environments; Lighting, image capture and image processing; Audiovisual and performance production; Media and performance direction) enjoyed a farewell ceremony presided over by Josep Maria Ramón, Director General of Jesuitas Sarrià - Sant Ignasi; Jordi Ollé, Head of Professional Studies at the school; Bea Galán, representative of the Alumni Association; and Marta Munté, Head of VET International.
Jordi Ollé, Head of Professional Studies, opened the ceremony by thanking all the attendees. He told the new graduates that “being a professional means not only having technical skills but also caring for others, being responsible and sustainable for the world and the impact of our actions” and addressed a message for the future to them: "…life will present you with new challenges and new opportunities to grow and continue learning. Here you have grown as people and as professionals, may your vocation serve to better the world and the people around you…"
He then handed over to Ricard Dastis, Head of Human and Pastoral Education for the level, who shared the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley, a poet who showed resilience in responding to the events and problems he experienced and which enabled him to live a full and meaningful life. Ricard said he hoped the students would be steadfast in the face of the difficulties they might encounter in their career and in life. He also reminded them of St. Ignatius's saying that "Love is shown more in deeds than in words" and the importance of never leaving anyone behind.
Marta Munté, Head of VET International, then noted the importance we attach to St. Ignatius in opening up to the world, to “training people who are prepared for a global world, who communicate in different languages, who understand other cultures and are keen to make the world a better place”.
Then, Bea Galán, representative of the Alumni Association, welcomed them as new members of the Association and invited them to carry on taking part in the activities and meetings that are organised to keep the imprint of their time at Sant Ignasi alive.
Following this, the students representing the various training cycles addressed a few words to all those present, explaining their time at the school and looking to the future. They then received their class graduation photos from the team of tutors of the vocational education and training programmes.
Josep Maria Ramón, the school’s general director, concluded the ceremony with heartfelt gratitude. He thanked the students for "allowing the school to grow alongside" them, expressed appreciation to families for "being there, for never throwing in the towel and for their unwavering support", and acknowledged the educators as the "driving force behind the project, placing students at the centre."
The event ended with a drinks reception in the school's main garden.
