8th ASSÍS Charity Dinner

The School of Hospitality at Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi hosts the 8th ASSÍS Charity Dinner “One night, one opportunity to take care of ourselves”

On Thursday 2nd October, the 8th edition of the ASSÍS Charity Dinner was held in Plaça Major in Sarrià, Barcelona. Each year, Centre Assís sets a charity challenge linked to one of its programmes. This year, the Charity Dinner aimed to raise funds for the Social Inclusion Programmes.

As part of this tradition, students from the Intermediate Catering and Advanced Catering courses at Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi transformed the square into an open-air dining hall for 330 guests.

The Jesuïtes Sarrià-Sant Ignasi Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism has been collaborating with this foundation in organising and executing the dinner since its first edition.

This event provides a genuine learning opportunity for the students, offering them valuable hands-on experience. The activity starts in the school’s practical classrooms and culminates in a dinner for 330 people. Simultaneously, this event raises students’ awareness about homelessness, providing them with a meaningful experience of solidarity in their future profession.

This year, the event featured the sports director of the Conde de Godó Trophy and former professional tennis player Tommy Robredo who, as the sponsor of this edition, presented this charity event.

The ASSÍS Shelter Centre is an institution dedicated to improving the quality of life for people at risk. It offers a space for positive relationships and empowers individuals to take charge of their own transformative processes. To support these achievements, a charity dinner has been held for the past four years to raise funds.

Acknowledgments:

This initiative by ASSÍS and the Sant Ignasi School of Hospitality is made possible through the generous collaboration of organizations, companies, and suppliers who donate furniture, cutlery, crockery, and raw materials for the dinner. This allows nearly all the proceeds from the charity dinner to be used to provide the centre’s users with training and advice to help them find and maintain employment.

The funds raised at this year’s Charity Dinner will support social inclusion programmes.
