6th Sarrià - Sant Gervasi Inclusive Sports Day

On 3, 4 and 5 April, under the slogan Together to grow, the 6th Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Inclusive Sports Day was held at Sant Ignasi.

This sports day, organised by the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities (IMPD) and supervised by the Sarrià - Sant Gervasi CRP Educational Service, the Sarrià - Sant Gervasi District, the JOCVIU sports association and the sports department of the Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi vocational training centre, is designed to foster encounters between boys and girls from different mainstream and special education centres in order to respond to social diversity.

By boosting participation and reducing exclusion in and from education, the goal of these days is to demonstrate, through cooperation and coexistence, that a school for all is possible.

By using sport as a nexus of union, children from different schools will be able to share spaces, activities and games that will help them understand diversity from a different standpoint, adding capacities and advancing towards inclusion. As such, pupils in the middle cycle of primary education from state and state-subsidised schools and special schools in the district will be able to take part in a series of sporting activities that oppose any kind of segregation as a result of a disability.

Our 3rd year Primary students have worked on raising awareness from the physical education stage with the aim of getting closer to the reality of boys and girls with functional diversities through an assembly and the Let's move project.

The students of the Sant Ignasi Higher Degree in Teaching and Socio-sporting Organisation took part in coordinating the shared cooperative activities that they organised on this inclusive day.
