MOPI 4 students recently participated in an artistic workshop dedicated to the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, an activity specially designed to deepen their knowledge and understanding of her creative universe. The workshop forms part of the Expressem node and allowed the children to experiment with some of the artist's most iconic plastic techniques and resources.
Through dots, repetitive patterns, and the intensive use of colour, the children have been able to explore new forms of artistic expression, while developing their creativity and observation skills. The activity culminated in a very special visit: “Yayoi Kusama” herself came to the classroom to see the students' work firsthand and how they were interpreting her style.
The visit was full of surprise, emotion, and creativity, and offered the children the opportunity to share their creative process, ideas, and the discoveries they made throughout the project. This experience reinforced experiential learning and fostered a closer connection between artistic creation and personal expression.
A magical day that demonstrates how art can be used in the classroom to inspire, evoke emotions, and leave a mark on children's learning.
