EXPRESSEM: Learning node in Early Childhood Education

In our MOPI community, we like to express ourselves through visual language. Drawing and painting are part of our lives. In this NODE we want to take a journey through a work of art.

THROUGH THIS LEARNING NODE, WE:

  • Approach artistic creation.
  • Begin to educate the gaze.
  • Experience the expressive possibilities of visual language.
  • Experience the expressive possibilities of body and audiovisual language.
  • Show our own vision of a work of art, expressed through visual, body, and audiovisual language.

Nodes are a methodological proposal based on project-based work. Children become the builders of their own learning through play, research and relationships with classmates, exploring according to their interests. They make the decisions and seek their own strategies to find solutions to the challenges and situations they encounter, while the adult acts as a guide. Work is conducted in inter-society communities to solve major and relevant challenges, thus promoting social relations and responding to the different maturity rates.

Among other activities, we took a journey through Diego Velázquez's Las Meninas. We visited the painter's workshop and got to see his work.

We also worked on symmetry and the self-portrait.

The nodes follow this teaching sequence: Prompt · Ask · Investigate · Apply · Communicate · Reflect
