From 22 to 28 May, 12 students and two teachers had a unique experience: an exchange trip to Toulouse, a city in the south of France steeped in history, culture and character. We set off on the train eagerly and somewhat nervously, but we immediately felt welcomed.
We stayed with French host families which was a great opportunity to learn French. Some families took us on activities or made traditional French dishes for us.
During the day, we attended classes at Le Caousou school, where we spent time with French pupils of our age. They made us feel very welcome and we did activities in which we got to know each other better. We also found out what their education system is like and did a lot of speaking practice in real life situations.
We additionally went on some fascinating trips. One day we visited Toulouse, known as the “Pink City” because of the colour of the bricks of its buildings. We strolled through the historic centre, saw the Capitole and went into the Basilica of Saint-Sernin. On another day we went to Carcassonne, a medieval city with spectacular walls that looked like something out of a fairy tale. We also took a boat trip on the Canal du Midi where we were able to relax, laugh and enjoy nature with friends. However, the best outing was undoubtedly the one to the Cité de l'Espace where we were able to watch a rocket take-off and see all the components of these spacecraft.
This trip has been much more than just tourism: it has been a chance to learn and share. We take away unforgettable memories, new experiences and friendships. It has been an excellent exchange, we are very grateful for the effort made by the school and we recommend this exchange to anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience.
