Job Shadowing in Portugal

Within the framework of the Erasmus program, our Vocational Education and Training gives our educators the opportunity to participate in training experiences abroad through our network of international contacts. This promotes the exchange of knowledge about new educational systems and methodologies, the incorporation of innovative elements, and the internationalisation of our Vocational Education and Training offering.

Tamara Garcia, a member of the Sant Ignasi Vocational Education and Training admissions team, participated in a Job Shadowing program at the Lisbon School of Hospitality and Tourism (EHT), a leading centre of education in Europe and part of Turismo de Portugal, with the aim of gaining in-depth knowledge of the attraction, communication, and job placement strategies of a successful training model.

During the Job Shadowing, she was able to observe first-hand:

  • The student admission and selection processes.
  • The innovative use of digital platforms and the organisation of various events, competitions, ceremonies, and activities to promote the training on offer.
  • The administrative support system for international students, fundamental due to their high mobility rate.

The visit coincided with a meeting with our students Sergio (from the Advanced Vocational Education and Training course in Education and Socio-Sports Animation course) and Emma (from the Advanced Vocational Education and Training course in Tourist Accommodation Management), who are doing their academic Erasmus placements at the ESHTE in Estoril. Both confirmed their satisfaction with the experience, highlighting the quality of the training and the logistical ease provided by accommodation in the same complex.

These international experiences offer our educators and students a unique opportunity to discover other ways of understanding the world and to receive education without borders.
