Sant Ignasi's 4th year ESO students enrolled in the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) project this year, attending the official accreditation ceremony last Friday, 6th February, for the Junior Ambassadors of the European Parliament. The event took place in Barcelona City Council's Saló de Cent, where the city's educational centres participating in the programme were present.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Mr. Jaume Collboni, and the Vice-President of the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education, MEP Ms. Diana Riba, who recognised and appreciated the educational work of the programme.

For our students it is an opportunity and also a big responsibility: An opportunity to learn more about what the European Union is, how it works and the values it upholds. And a responsibility because, from this point forward, we are the voice of Europe in our schools and among young people.
The students themselves are aware that they live in a world full of challenges: war, climate change, inequalities, disinformation, etc. In the face of this, Europe reminds us that cooperation, respect, democracy, and peace are not abstract ideas, but values that are built every day with our actions.
In their speech they said: '... We are the future, but we are also the present. We have opinions, concerns, and a desire to get involved. Being junior ambassadors allows us to become more involved, inform, and encourage other students to take an interest in Europe and learn what role we can play. Believing in a united, fairer Europe that is closer to its citizens.'
The event ended by giving thanks to the teachers who make this project possible, to the institutions for their support, and to everyone who trusts in the voice of young people.
