The Nature Classroom, a shared learning space

6th-year Primary students have begun collecting organic waste from the school canteen. As part of their work and study of composting, they have decided to use the school's waste to generate their own compost, which will be used to enrich the soil in the Nature Classroom garden at the school.

On the other hand, since the children in MOPI 5, within the framework of the Let's Fix It node, are working on recycling, the 6th-year students have explained to them how organic waste decomposes and also the composting process carried out by worms, known as vermicomposting. In addition, they showed them the worm farm we have at school and explained how they work there to obtain high-quality compost for our vegetable garden and the Nature Classroom.

We have enjoyed unique moments of connection working together, watering, caring for the plants, and learning how we can take care of the environment by naturally recycling waste.

The Nature Classroom is a space where our students deepen their knowledge of the environment around them while learning to respect nature and its conservation. The fundamental premise is not only to work with what the students know but also to take advantage of what the students know how to do with the knowledge they have. The learning process starts from authentic or real activities within the educational framework learning by doing.
