Grandparents visit the Nature Classroom

Year 6 NEI pupils spend one hour a week in the Nature Classroom. Here they tend to the plants in the garden and work with farming tools, the garden calendar (seasonal fruit and vegetables and local produce), water saving in irrigation systems and composting.

In the fieldwork sessions they sow and plant and also see to the Nature Classroom's upkeep. This learning by doing gives them a closer look at nature, helps them to think about the sustainability of our world and makes them aware of the importance of caring for it.

They have taken their grandparents on a guided tour of the Nature Classroom to share their experiences, the knowledge they have gained and the life lessons they have learned.
