Amin Sheikh lived on the streets of Mumbai at just 4 years old, but thanks to an association of nuns and a Catalan businessman, he was taken in and given an education. Thanks to the Jesuit Snehasadan Foundation in Mumbai, he was able to study and get off the streets. Now, he dedicates his life to helping others, and has created a foundation that provides jobs and training to homeless youth. He has written two books about his story and gives talks every year around Europe to motivate teenagers to fight for what they believe in while also raising awareness of his foundation.
This year, Amin Sheikh will give a series of talks in Catalonia, Madrid, Asturias, Burgos, Rome and Germany. With the profits from the sale of his book, the foundation has already been able to open a café, two canteens and a nursery school for homeless children/young people or families with few resources. They are now expanding and opening a new café, with plans to open a primary school soon. All this is happening in India.
