A group of students from the Netherlands, representing Zone College in Twello, recently visited us as part of an exchange programme aimed at working on sustainable development. This programme is part of the Erasmus+ projects that the school organises to authentically and competently foster global citizenship among our students.

The first activities of the week revolved around team-building. The second day was dedicated to getting to know Barcelona, with a visit to the Sagrada Família. Over the following days, the focus turned more directly to sustainability: the students took part in collaborative clean-up efforts as part of the Pla Endreça initiative, promoted by the Barcelona City Council.
As a European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS project), we also welcomed members of Team Europe. For this occasion, a highly dynamic and illustrative talk was organised regarding what it means to be a European citizen today. The week concluded with the students planting trees in the school’s Nature classroom.
The students also participated in two workshops; the first was the “Roba Bonica” project, organised by the Back to Eco Foundation. Its aim was to teach the students how to extend the life of their clothes (by repairing, resewing, and modifying them). The second workshop focused on our ecological footprint and the impact our actions have on the environment.
These activities received support from the Commission of the Sant Ignasi + Green, and align with Sant Ignasi’s participation in the Schools +Sustainable programme, run by the Barcelona City Council.
This project will continue in June, when our students will travel to Twello to continue working and learning about sustainability.
