Experimentation and panellets at the Nursery

2nd-year Nursery students enjoyed a very special sensory experimentation activity, inspired by the Castanyada and panellets. Using two very everyday items—potatoes and cocoa—, the children explored textures, smells, colours and sensations while manipulating, tasting, and discovering how these ingredients are transformed with just their hands.

This activity fostered curiosity and creativity among the little ones, while they developed fine motor skills and sensory language: They were able to express what they felt, what they noticed, and what surprised them. It also served to connect with the tradition of the Castanyada, bringing them closer to the world of panellets, while playing and experimenting with some of the ingredients in an experiential and fun way.
