Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi, best school in Under-12s chess
On Saturday 29 April, 7 pupils from the para-school chess team took part in the school chess championship organised by the CEEB (Barcelona School Sports Council). The tournament consisted of 5 rounds that took place throughout the day, with the participation of 66 clubs and 286 students from various schools in Catalonia.
In the Under-12s category represented by NEI students Oisin O'Neill, Joel Hormigo, Ferran Falga and Roger Pinyol, Jesuïtes Sarrià-Sant Ignasi came first out of all the participating schools. A special mention also goes to PIN students Ignacio Cornet, Carles Rodríguez-Palmero and Marcos Busquets in the Under-10s category who competed against older and more experienced rivals.
The awards ceremony for the individual and team chess championship organised by the CEEB was held on Saturday 27 May at La Mar Bella Municipal Sports Complex where the 4 NEI students: Oisin O'Neill, Joel Hormigo, Ferran Falga and Roger Pinyol received the award for best chess school in the Under-12s category.
