Comics are a kind of text which conveys stories mainly through a series of panels with illustrations. It is an engaging storytelling style, easy to interpret and read, which introduces children to writing and reading in an entertaining and creative way.
Bing Bang Boom, comics at the ready is a learning node which helps Early Childhood pupils to find out about the types of texts in comics and their features and encourages reading and collaborative work between children of different ages. It also stimulates the children's imagination and creativity by building on their previous knowledge of other texts and using spoken and written language as a means of communication. They explore speech bubbles and pictures and end up writing and sharing their comic with the whole MOPI community.
The Bing Bang Boom... comics at the ready! node introduces children to text creation through planning, writing and revising.
